If you have refinanced a FHA loan after January 1, 2001 that was originally obtained after July 1, 1991 but before January 1, 2001, you may be entitled to a HUD MIP refund. MIP is the "Mortgage Insurance Premium" that FHA charges on every FHA loan.

Prior to January 2001, FHA charge a FHA MIP of 2.25% of the loan amount that was financed into your loan. If you refinanced after January 1, 2001, the new limit was only 1.5%. Due to this change in FHA guidelines (for actual HUD guidelines, click here) you may be entitled to a FHA refund of the unused portion of the MIP.

To determine if you are due a refund from HUD, simply click on the link below and you will be automatically directed to HUD's MIP Refund research page.
